Firmware 2.0 and you

Posted on 04 April 2008 by Shade

I have recently aquired firmware 2.0, and using the Dev Teams new jailbreak pwnage, have jailbroken it!

Here are some steps…

Steps after the break!

1. Get the firmware, I will not tell you how, but if you ARR lucky, you can find it.

2. Restore your iPod to 1.1.4

3. Download Pwnage while you are restoring.

4. Open Pwnage

5. Click “browse .ispw”

6. Find firmware 2.0 and select it.

7. Click IPSW builder

8. Select custom boot image if you want and press OK.

7. Click on iPwner once your iPod’s restore is done.

8. Wait. If you get an error, comment and I will atempt to help you.

9. Open iTunes and use your custom firmware file (made in the same folder as your firmware 2.0 file)

Hope this helps…

Oh and yes it is jailbroken… SSH into it and see for yourself!

(press home and hold to take a screenshot when in 2.0!)

Updates: Ok after a bit of use,  here is some information on 2.0

Installer (or other apps) will (may) not work on the 2.0 framework, however Arix is working on a modified version of installer.

SSH is installed on pwn’d iPods, password is still alpine.

Here are a bunch of screen shots! Mouse over the picture for commentary

Has anyone attempted the ‘Erase All’ function under 2.0? Does it appear to actually wipe the device by overwriting memory with data or rather than simply deleting file references as 1.1.4 does?
