3G iPhone. . . 10 million on order??

Posted on 27 March 2008 by Phoenix

Rumor has it that ol’ Steve has put in a 10 million iPhone order.  But that’s not all.  Those 10 million iPhones are rumored to be 3G.

An iPhone research analyst for Gartner, Ken Dulaney reports that his sources tell him that this new revelation iPhone is rumored to have a better display, longer battery life and a more slim design.

If this pans out to be true, us folks over here in Japan may very well be seeing a bright and shiny new iPhone here by the middle of the year. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

iPod nano gets a grape flavor??

Posted on 03 March 2008 by Phoenix

Rumors flying again.  It seems that a blogger is saying that a local newspaper add for Circuit City is showing a purple iPod nano.

I particularly think that this could be a mistake.   Take a look at both of these snipits.  One of the newspaper add and then one from Apple’s website.

 picture-1.png

Here is where I have drawn my conclusion from.  Take a good look at both pictures.  If the advertisement was an image from Apple it should have a different picture in the purple iPod nano.

If you notice in the two pictures.  All of the pics are the same for the corresponding color iPods.  EXCEPT the Purple and Pink.  They seem to have the same picture.  Every color should have it’s own pic.  That is why I think that the news paper add just got the color wrong.

Well, I could be wrong.  That is why this is in the rumor section.  Let’s see if we can see a Purple iPod nano soon.

SDK. Acess Denied! [UPDATED]

Posted on 01 March 2008 by Phoenix

If you are one of the one’s that have such high hopes on the up and coming SDK, might want to re-think it a little.  We might all be in for a big disappointment!

While these are just rumors, the folks over at iLounge  have a lot of confidence in their sources. iLounge stated today that the up and coming SDK event on March 6th, will leave many people disappointed.
According to iLounge, All apps will need to be 1st approved by Apple and then and only then can the apps be sold. Here is another snag in the system. Once approved, it is said that iTunes will be the only place to get said apps.
What a shocker! This is really something that boils my noodle.
Oh yeah, one more thing. It also seems that Apple intends to cut of development of dock connected accessories. This heats me up more than anything. As you all may know, I am a firm supporter of the Touchmods team and their wonderfully crafted mic. That is really bad if this does come true because I would really like to see that company move forward with their developments.

UPDATE:
Now it seems that new rumors are flying that oppose the above comments.
Electronica states

sources which have since been confirmed as accurate — the new contact claims that free applications are not subject to the same rules that will guide paid software downloads. In this model, free software is unlikely to be subject to much if any scrutiny by Apple.

Well, only 5days left. Let’s see where this leads.

The end of February nears. Apple Tuesday begins.

Posted on 26 February 2008 by Phoenix

We all know that tensions are building as Apple primes up to give us the best of the best.  While we do know that every Tuesday this month, Apple has dropped some mighty fine goodies upon us.  It is also apparent that Apple may not produce as soon as we expected.  It is fine time that Apple steps up to the plate as February is nearing it’s end with no good signs that we are in store for anything good this week.

We have rumors all over showing the promising output for today’s Tuesday line up however, it is still too early to tell.  Word is, from our friends over at Engadget, that new MacBook’s are on the horizon.  New Apple product numbers showing up in stores order lists reveal that truly something is up Apple’s sleeve.  But what exactly?

Rumors are also flying around that the new SDK will not be pushed until maybe the middle of March.  The people want it now.

Come on Apple.  You are starting to slack in terms of credibility.  We need you to back up what you earlier stated.  The people want it, the people need it.  Give it to us and let us run with it.

The only thing we can do now is just wait.  This is going to be a long Tuesday!!

BusinessWeek: Claims iPhone SDK will be late to come.

Posted on 23 February 2008 by Phoenix

BusinessWeek’s blog post by  Arik Hesseldahl states that he has a reliable source that says the iPhone SDK will be late and could even be up to three weeks late.

Well, I can’t say that this is unexpected however, we never like to hear when Apple isn’t ready to follow through with their plans.   I guess that we will just have to wait and see how things pans out as February is nearing it’s end.

Let’s just hope that this rumor does not come true.

[UPDATED]Tiny Code website down and no longer providing updates via installer app!!

Posted on 19 February 2008 by Phoenix

What does this mean you say and who the heck is the “Tiny Code”?

Tiny Code, among other things produce fixes and such for 1.1.3 apps such as iFlix, vonagent, iPhysics(missing levels), etc.  They basically have a repo that provides fixes for problems with the iPhone, latest firmware and applications developed by other parties.

It seems now that their installer is no longer providing updates as well as their website if offline.  It now redirects you to the Apple developer site.  See for yourself - Tiny Code Hmm. . . Could this be true that 1.1.4 is just around the corner?

According to Kelly(operator of Tiny Code)

One: Yes, I have a copy of the Apple SDK for the iPhone targeting firmware 1.1.4.

Two: Yes, Tiny-Code.com was ordered to be removed from operation by Apple, Inc because by releasing firmware versions and stating I had possession of the firmware and SDK was apparently a violation of the Non-Disclosure Agreement I agreed to when I accepted a copy of the SDK and firmware.

Three: Yes I was wrist-slapped by Apple and won’t be included in any further firmware beta’s or testing/coding.

And finally, Four: No I cannot disclose any more about anything without getting into more trouble, stating the above is ok because well let’s face it, there is documented proof I already have and Apple already backhanded me for it.

I don’t have a date for when the SDK should be available, even if I did, I couldn’t say more than I have.

Sorry for the confusion and sorry I can’t update my repo anymore, at least not until the new firmware is out.

PS: The link to apple dev center, that is just to stop the “where did it go” questions. Apple didn’t ask me to, I just did.

Regards,
Kelly

We will just have to wait and see how this turns out. Can’t be too much longer before the SDK is announced. Let’s hope there is a ton of good news soon!

[UPDATE]: Well, it seems that this story was a tall tale just like Jack and the Beanstalk. Sorry guys, this Rumor has been busted!
According to TUAW and the same Mac Rumors forum that the other comment came from, Kelly posted his confession.
Seems that he was just out to play a big joke on everyone. While a cruel and dirty joke, it does in fact proves that, well, rumors are rumors until proven different.
See Kelly’s public confession on the Mac Rumors Forum here.

(Thanks Stalker for the tip on that!)

Also, thanks to Mac Rumors forum member iPhelim for getting a screenshot of Tiny Code website before it was removed.
