Coming soon!

iSlsk is coming for iPod and iPhone early this May. SoulSeek is a P2P program, like limewire. It focuses mainly on music sharing though.

From iPodTouchFans.com

For all of you guys who didn’t believe iSlsk was real, this video is for you. Sorry for the bad quality.

And for those who don’t know, iSlsk is a soulseek client for the iPhone/iPod Touch. Soulseek is a P2P sharing network similar to others like eMule, LimeWire, and BitTorrent.

This is a preview video, iSlsk wasn’t released yet because it’s still on development.

I (errrick) expect to have a beta before May, and a public release on that month.

Enjoy!

Youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HHdMTwDSZc

PS: for some reason, when downloading the second file it gets stuck at 4.5% both on soulseek and iSlsk.. disregard that, somethimes it gets freezed but after a while it resumes normally. i think it’s soulseek’s fault and not mine

Well as you can see, iSlsk, and P2P is not far away!

(iPodTouch4All.com does not condone file sharing of copyrighted material.)

Limitededitioniphone.com posted recently about one new feature of the newest firmware of 2.0, iPod1,1_2.0_5A240d_Restore.0_5A240d_Restore. If you click on an image and keep your finger on it, a pop up will appear, allowing you to save the image. Among the other new features discovered thus far, searching contacts, and increased stability. One by one apple is shooting down the use of jailbreaking apps.

With the release of the latest iPhone 2.0 beta software, Zibri of ZiPhone has discovered a small easter egg. With the discovery of this new information, it opens up the coming reality of the new 3G iPhone.

In todays news, it seems that Zibri, the creator of the popular Ziphone has discovered a very interesting piece of information.
With the release of the newest beta software for the iPhone, Zibri found a small piece of information in the packaging that confirms that 3G will be coming to the iPhone.
What was revealed was the implementation of a new chipset in the iPhone. The Infineon S-GOLD3H. What is this you ask? It is Infineon’s baseband processor that will be used in the up coming iPhone.

S-GOLD3H: Infineon’s baseband processor supports HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) data rates of up to 7.2 megabits per second (Mbit/s) for the mid-range multimedia phone segment.

With this new chip, data rates will double. People will awe and drool and the iPhone will again be breaking barriers with its new unleashed power.

Infineon states. . .

“Infineon strives for innovative integration of functionalities into its chips to provide our customers with a wide range of reference platforms designed for all segments of the mobile industry, from ultra-low-cost phones to feature phones, including technology ranging from 2G, or second generation, to 3.5G. Our new HSDPA chip enables more than triple the data rates possible in mass market phones today. This makes broadband multimedia applications, such as video streaming or high-speed audio/ video download, available to the mass market,” said Professor Dr. Hermann Eul, Member of the Board and head of the Communication Solutions business group at Infineon Technologies AG. “The scalability, versatility and completeness of our latest reference design platform enable our customers to meet extremely challenging time-to-market requirements when evolving from 2.75G phones to 3G and 3.5G phones, while being flexible enough to quickly adapt to changing markets.”

So folks, get ready for a roller coaster of events to be rolling out within the next couple of months.
Maybe finally, us folks over here in Japan will be able to bask in the glory of owning a new 3G iPhone soon.

I have recently aquired firmware 2.0, and using the Dev Teams new jailbreak pwnage, have jailbroken it!

Here are some steps…

Steps after the break!

1. Get the firmware, I will not tell you how, but if you ARR lucky, you can find it.

2. Restore your iPod to 1.1.4

3. Download Pwnage while you are restoring.

4. Open Pwnage

5. Click “browse .ispw”

6. Find firmware 2.0 and select it.

7. Click IPSW builder

8. Select custom boot image if you want and press OK.

7. Click on iPwner once your iPod’s restore is done.

8. Wait. If you get an error, comment and I will atempt to help you.

9. Open iTunes and use your custom firmware file (made in the same folder as your firmware 2.0 file)

Hope this helps…

Oh and yes it is jailbroken… SSH into it and see for yourself!

(press home and hold to take a screenshot when in 2.0!)

Updates: Ok after a bit of use, here is some information on 2.0

Installer (or other apps) will (may) not work on the 2.0 framework, however Arix is working on a modified version of installer.

SSH is installed on pwn’d iPods, password is still alpine.

Here are a bunch of screen shots! Mouse over the picture for commentary

Installerapps.com is holding a contest during the month of April for a prize. Be sure to check it out.

That’s right folks, you heard me right. You too can have the chance to win $50 in prizes.

It is rather simple. My friend over at installerapps.com is holding this contest for the whole month of April.

All you have to do is sign in at his site(you have to register to comment) and find your favorite installer app for the iPod touch or iPhone and give a rating. Simple as that. You can rate as many apps as you like however, please be fair and rate the apps with honesty. Installerapps.com will be monitoring the ratings so no cheating.

I will be picking a ‘rating’ made during the month of April. It doesn’t matter when the post was made(you can go back and rate applications from last month, from January, etc. . .). It just matters that the rating was done in this month.

The winner gets to pick a prize(or multiple) from Amazon.com. . .that totals no more than 50 USD(including shipping).

So, why not? Have you got anything better to do? Earning this prize couldn’t be easier.

Be sure to check it out before May 1st or you’ll lose your chance at this amazing deal.

If you missed that link, here it is again. Installerapps.com

The iPhone Dev Team releases a video of Pwnage!

First off the Dev Team released this video (iPod and iPhone friendly!). It is a video of the jailbreaking tool Pwnage (It also shows off firmware 2.0). Pwnage is a custom firmware builder. First you need to “pwn” you iPod though… before you can use your custom firmware. Which allows a custom loading screen, custom apple logo, and all sorts of goodies. The best part of it though, is that the Dev Team believes that “any subsequent firmware releases will also be vulnerable to “Pwnage” … like 1.2(2.0) beta.”

When might you ask? 30.03.2008. TOMORROW!

Update: Due to some beta testers complaints it is being released later this week.

Liberty+ is now available!

The iPhone Dev Team (mostly Aviegas) has just released Liberty+. Liberty+ is a rival for jailbreaking and unlocking, taking on the heavyweight ZiPhone, I got a chance to beta test this on windows, and I found it quite similar and different than ZiPhone, similar in the fact that it goes into verbose mode, different because the Installer app is optional, Liberty+ comes with a dozen or so packages that you can install while it jailbreaks. On the beta I had no problems jailbreaking it, but installing Installer did not work. However geohot fixed it. Hopefully this application is as successful as ZiPhone, and propels both to do better work than the other.

Let us know if it works for you in the comments!

Rumor has it that ol’ Steve has put in a 10 million iPhone order. But that’s not all. Those 10 million iPhones are rumored to be 3G.

An iPhone research analyst for Gartner, Ken Dulaney reports that his sources tell him that this new revelation iPhone is rumored to have a better display, longer battery life and a more slim design.

If this pans out to be true, us folks over here in Japan may very well be seeing a bright and shiny new iPhone here by the middle of the year. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

The Touchmods announced the release of their latest software. SIP-VoIP version 1.2

Some of the added improvements are:

Want a ringtone. Well, add your own. New support for .mp3 files.

Solved saving problems with new file location

 More pics in the skins

If you want to to find out more about this, head over to the Touchmods site for the latest or if you have any questions.

You can download this over at the Touchmods site or you should be able to add via Installer.

Touchmods video showing off their new headset. Read more inside. . .

A little while ago we told you about the new headset mic coming from the Touchmods. Here is a preview of the new headset mic working.

With the latest preview, there is not much sound as it is coming out of the headset speakers however, it clearly shows how the operations work and another great achievement from the Touchmods team..

Our headset design not only have a built-in high-sensitivity Mic and a “call-receive” button, but you can also control the Touch in your pocket with this single button, as the video demonstrates above. The functions Ridax implemented are quite tricky: one button for 8 functions:
- home screen and single click: start media player,
- song playing and single click: pause the song,
- song paused and single click: play the song,
- song playing or paused and double click: jump to next song,
- song playing or paused and long click: raise volume,
- … long click again: lower the volume,
- incoming call received on SIP-VoIP and click: accept call,
- enough of speaking, click: finish call.

Clearly a great solution. With this you will be able to not only answer incoming VoIP calls, you can control all of your music.

If you are interested in getting one of these bad boys, head over to the Touchmods site and check it out.

VM4 is coming out on March 22.

Vista Maximus, a SummerBoard theme, is quite easily one of the best Vista style themes created. Created by Bob Vansteel it has gathered a bit of a fan following on iPod Touch Fans. Vista Maximus (VM) 3 had over 100 icons, and VM4 has over 110. VM4 is estimated to be released on March 22, and Bob Vansteel is very confident, even going so far as to say “oh yes, it will pwn even VM3″. I tried out the beta release of VM4 and was really surprised by all the features of it. It has everything from an ants.app mod, to LegitHK’s invisible slider. Also included is an Ubuntu theme, a Windows xp theme, and a Windows 95 theme. So if you want an awesome Vista/Ubuntu/Windows xp/Windows 95 theme go no further than Vista Maximus 4.

Cmw just today released iBoot, an interactive console that allows interaction without iTunes, basically it is one step closer to a Linux based firmware. Or so I am told.

What it is , is an operating system of sorts. To boot into it, you need a command from a connected computer. It has no GUI, it is only a command line with some custom commands. Currently there isn’t much use for it, but everything needs to start out somewhere!

Apple rejects new applicants to the iPhone Developer Program

Up and coming developer applicants that are applying to Apple’s iPhone developer program are being rejected.

With the recent release of the Apple SDK and over 100,000 downloads later, it seems that iPhone developers are being declined left and right.

Ars technica and TUAW are reporting a load of people that, when applying, are being rejected by Apple.

Here is an excerpt from the letter that is being sent to the applicants. . .

“Thank you for expressing interest in the iPhone Developer Program. We have received your enrollment request. As this time, the iPhone Developer Program is available to a limited number of developers and we plan to expand during the beta period. We will contact you again regarding your enrollment status at the appropriate time.”

You can see on Apple’s site that they now have added a small note under the “Apply Now” button.

The iPhone Developer Program will initially be available to a limited number of developers in the U.S. and will expand to other countries in the coming months.

You know, there is always one thing that Apple likes and that is control. No matter how you put it. No matter how you look at it. We are all puppets for Apple. I wonder where that new fund is going or how is it going to be implied???

Video 1(above) - Using iCopy to copy and paste text

One of the main things that the iPhone and iPod touch has been missing all this time is the ol’ ”copy and paste” function.

iPhone Atlas points us to a young developer by the name of Preston Monroe that really got tired of waiting on Apple to provide a solution so he created his own workaround called “iCopy“

iCopy is a bookmarklet for Safari that allows you to implement the copy and paste function. This can be used in many different ways. You can copy URL’s and add them directly to your email. You can copy paragraphs and add them to online forms such as forums or blogs and so on. This is a great workaround until Apple can implement a solution.

You will have to edit the bookmark a bit so be sure to go the homepage of iCopy so that you can get full details on how to make this work.

Interview with Zibri and The Dev Team. . .

ZiPhone. Most jailbreakers know this word, and the service that ZiPhone provides, yet not most people know about Zibri. So I decided to contact him, and interview him, and ask him some questions about the future of ZiPhone and more importantly about ZiTouch.

But as I interviewed Zibri, another user on the IRC channel private messages me, and asks me to get both sides of the story. Because hidden deep inside the jailbreaking world, there is a conflict. Who is right and who is wrong is up to you to decide…

(If you want to read the first part you’re good, if you read the second part, I recommend reading through the rest)

To view the interviews click on “Continue Reading”.

—[Zibri]—

Shade:How old are you?

Zibri:37

Shade:What is are some/any of your past accomplishments?

Zibri:Well I modified almost everything I have ever bought..
Search google for “zibri firmware” or “zibri tomtom”

Shade:Where do you live?

Zibri:Rome, Italy.

Shade:What type of computer do you use?

Zibri:A simple pc and a laptop. Intel based.

Shade:What is the current shipping status of your ipod touch?

Zibri:Returned to sender because of an UPS error. It has been resent and should be here in 4 working days.

Shade:How long do you think it will be until ZiPod/ZiTouch comes out?

Zibri:Soon.

Shade:Will it be called ZiPod or ZiTouch or ZiPod Touch, and will it be a part of ZiPhone or a different application?

Zibri:I registered zitouch.org but I think I will just include an option in ziphone.

Shade:Will Zi-stuff be irrelevant after 2.0 is released?

Zibri:For a few days probably.

Shade:Will you try to jailbreak 2.0?

Zibri:If it’s worth upgrading, yes.

Shade:Will you develop apps with the SDK for 2.0?

Zibri:I don’t think so.

Shade:Anything else you would like to tell the world?

Zibri:http://www.icdc.com/~dnice/sunscreen.html

And “Namaste!” of course
—
And this is when another user on the IRC sent me a private message, this is where it all started to get a little bit interesting…

—
[GEEB]

—
Shade:
Who are you?
Geeb:
im geeb
im dev team affiliated but im no coder
i guess im a minion
they are a great bunch of people so i hang around them like a bad smell
Shade:
What is the deal with the Zibri/Dev team fiasco
Geeb:
woah where to start
1 sec
http://pastie.caboo.se/private/apsndsykfjnqtghjcnaw
—
Geeb:
but you are opening a BIG can of worms
so might be better to stay away from it
Shade:
ahh but I just love worms!
can you summarize for me why there is hostility between the two?
Geeb:
well read that
but,
from the dev team side
zibri stole the exploit that became ziphone
and did it for monetary gain
and burned ANOTHER exploit (jerrySim)
Shade:
Was Zibri part of the dev team?
Geeb:
yes
then there was a split
which became the elite team
which Zibri then disbanded allegedly
http://pastebin.ca/914305
—
Geeb: A bit more backstory there
theres a lot of blogs with stuff on, including some hilarious made up ones
Shade:
What is the dev team planning now
Geeb:
well, iPlus is top of the heap made by Aviegas who is now affiliated with us
next in line is iLiberty
by George Zjlotto
geeb:
another famous iPhone guru
THEn theres PWNED
custom firmware
Shade:
Oh the custom firmware
Geeb:
loaded thru iTunes
you make your firmware with a tool being coded as we speak
as it was decided not to distribute a custom ipsw for legal reasons
Shade:
hah

Shade
Didn’t you guys need to match the size actatly?
Geeb:
i dont know the technical details, makes my head hurt
Shade
yeah isn’t it illegal to decrypt the firmware?
and Apple has a … copyright so to speak on the firmware
Geeb:
Im no lawyer, so no comment
Geeb:
but the dev team know what they are doing legally
Shade:
so you cannot so to say go buy a harry potter book and call everyone Bob in it?
Geeb:
heheheh
Shade
So anything else you wish to tell me about anything iphone/ipod releated?
Geeb:
ummm
aCujo is doing a lot of great bootloader work
but most people do their stuff silently then pop up unexpectedly
unfortunately ziphone is taking all the attention
Shade:
ya
Geeb:
but a LOT of time goes in to “eductating” people into its roots
Shade:
what do you mean by educating people?
giving them the same backstory you now have
—

After asking him if I should ask any certian questions to Zibri,

—
Geeb:
Ask why theres been no updates…like to afc2 and 3.9blank
Shade:
what do you mean by afc2 and 3.9 blank?
Geeb:
afc2 is used to connect the iphone to progs like iPhuc to transfer data via the cable
Shade:
oh
Geeb:
3.9blank is more complicated
Shade:
and they havent been updated in Ziphone?
Geeb:
ziphone downgrades the bootloader (BL) to 3.9 from 4.6
but unless its patched, you CANNOT reupgrade to 4.6
Shade:
ouch
never?
Geeb:
which you may or may not need to do in the futuree
Shade:
does that count for ipod touches as well?
Geeb:
you can do it if you open your phone
i have no touch experience sorry
but yes i believe so
3.9blank enables you to upgrade if needed
Shade:
so he currently has afc2 and 3.9blank or no?
Geeb:
no
everyone else does
and its all public and open source
zibri is no coder
but people are potentially causing problems with their phones

—[Zibri]—

Shade::
Why hasn’t ZiPhone been updated to afc2 and 3.9blank?
Zibri:
well i tried to keep the iphone as close as the original as i could.
Zibri:
the 3.9 blank is a BIG risk
for everyone
3.9 is JUST FINE
and can be upgraded by apple easily
and it’s ORIGINAL
Shade:
My sources say that you cannot upgrade 3.9 to 4.6 with your current ziphone
Shade:
without opening the iphone
Zibri:
lol
your sources are DEV TEAM. and they are just ignorant
Zibri:
about afc2
it’s planned on future versions
Shade:
ok
Zibri:
to explain better:
normal bootloaders
don’t have blanked addresses
and can be upgraded by a proper fls/eep pair using bbupdater
Shade:
ok
Zibri:
what DEV TEAM idiots call “blanked address” it’s a stupid trick to simulate the A17 short
so to allow flashing by THEM
but my aim is to be as close as possible to original
Shade:
ah
that explains it a bit more
Zibri:
so now after more that 3 million ziphoned phones, apple has 2 only choices:
1) leave the 3.9 bl
2) upgrade it.
and by the way
don’t get fooled by VERSION numbers
4.6 has LESS features than 3.9
Shade:
really?
Zibri:
they removed them just to be more “safe”
Shade:
what did they remove specifically?
Zibri:
and there are no “user” improvements in bl 4.6.. it’s just a BOOTLOADER after all
they crippled the memory read call
that’s why it was not possible to “nordump” with 4.6 BL
another thing:
i have heard many lies by the so called dev team
one of them is that ziphone kills wifi
that’s completely WRONG
Shade:
Ok
Zibri:
apple quality assurance is a s**t… i have yet to see 2 identical iphones
sometimes the wifi is just “deaf”
under some circumstances
you could have a brick after ziphone. but it’s not ziphone’s fault.
it’s because people upgrades to 1.1.4 then uses ziphone (it’s 1.1.4 that bricks some phones)
and that’s because many people used “dev team” stuff
Shade:
oh
Zibri:
like geomod bootloader of the first hardware unlocks or they just broke the baseband trying a hardware unlock
i have friends (people I met here on irc) that unlock 50 phone/day
not a single incident.
i myself unlocked say.. 10 iphones
not a single problem.
obviously you are free not to believe me.
Shade:
hmm
Zibri:
but again.. read this:
Shade:
i belive you
more info than my “source”
Zibri:
but easy to understand
2150000 people from January 30 2008
different people
we hit 1.500.000 downloads with 2.5c
Shade:
What is your view on iPlus ?
Zibri:
and there are many mirrors around
Shade:
and congratulations!
Zibri:
iPlus does NOT exist. dev team took ziphone, modified, and wrote a very FUNNY credit.txt
you know why ?
Shade:
why?
Zibri:
it’s true i have used also other programs
what’s not known is this:
1) the exploit ziphone relies upon (the ramdisk exploit) was found by ME and unfortunately I told that to BGM (a member of dev team)
2) i MYSELF found the offsets for unlocking 1.1.4, changing imei and for patching lockdownd in 1.1.4
–THE LOG FILE–
Zibri:
<Zibri:> by the way
<Zibri:> what if we send the ramdisk BEFORE ?
<Zibri:> i mean
<Zibri:> instead of using iphuc
<Zibri:> we could:
<Zibri:> put the ramdisk in memory
<Zibri:> then reboot
<Zibri:> set nvram args and reboot.
<Zibri:> sounds neat
<Zibri:> so we could just put it there BEFORE and boot directly from that
* asap18 is on IRC
* sunnyDlite has left IRC
<bgm> reboot clears memory
<Zibri:> hmm you told me that there was something surviving
<Zibri:> can’t remember now
<bgm> i thought so. ramdisk doesn’t survive.
<Zibri:> no.. you don’t follow me
<Zibri:> forget ramdisk
<Zibri:> from normal iphone os
<Zibri:> if i reboot,
<Zibri:> does the memory survives?
<bgm> i am not sure anymore
<Zibri:> because if it does,
<Zibri:> we can just
Session Close: Mon Jan 28 00:00:00 2008
<bgm> i thought so. ramdisk doesn’t survive.
—
Zibri:
lol
these are GREAT dev team experts
i was mislead all the time.. they didn’t share anything…
then i understood why
because they didn’t know anything
only 3 people were really working
and one is GRAY
Shade:
who?
who are the three?
Zibri:
the author of the very first unlock (the unlock that was then used using geohot hardware hack)
i said 3 just to say a number
i mean maybe one or two.. let me see
well bgm is good but as you just read..
ohh i forgot the DATE of that log
wait
Session Start: Sun Jan 27 02:53:37 2008
Session Ident: bgm
Session Close: Mon Jan 28 00:00:00 2008
Shade:
ah
and when did ziphone come out?
Zibri:
i had ziphone from a month before release
i was using it myself for speeding up tests
then a friend saw it and said
that’s AMAZING !
you should RELEASE IT
the world will give you a standing ovation
exact words he said
a week after ziphone 1.0 was released
Shade:
anything else you would wish to say to rebut what the dev team has to say?
Zibri:
and now i just can’t believe my blog is translated in 20 languages
“rebut” ?
Shade:
counter
Zibri:
what do they have to say ?
Shade:
i dont know
Zibri:
i am not forcing anyone using ziphone.
Shade:
just pretty much everything you said
Zibri:
i just released it.
Shade:
covers it
Zibri:
and believe it or not I found everything that’s in it today.
in version 1.0 i used some ready made hacks too
but on 1.1.4 i had to change everything.
and I changed the code slightly even in 1.0 to make it SAFE
Shade:
1.1.4 worked very nicely on my premacworld 16 gb
Zibri:
that’s why no iphone has ever been harmed while creating AND using ziphone.
Shade:
ipod touch
took 7 tries
Zibri:
well
on ipods there is a stupid problem
i have inspected the ipod bootloader
and the bug ziphone relies upon is THERE
so it must be something else…
Shade:
does it matter if it is pre or past macworld?
Zibri:
proff of that is the latest video on ziphone.org
no.. i don’t think so
Shade:
ok
Zibri:
i think it’s only a timing problem..
Shade:
ya…
ok well
Zibri:
maybe some FATTER ipods are a little slower in the boot process
Shade:
i have to go
so anything to wrap it all up?
Zibri:
so slowing down ziphone can help
no need
i just have to get an ipod.. do a few tests
and release 2.6
—

As you can see here we have two different stories. Which one is true? I’ll leave you to decide.

The Touchmods soon to release a headset solution to their lineup.

The public speaks, the Touchmods listen. Once again, the Touchmods team produce results that the public wants.

The latest addition to the Touchmods line-up is a brand new headset solution. Looking at a release date of sometime around April, this model will only come in black and will cost you 37 Euro or $58.50. Don’t worry, if you already pre-ordered another mic from them and would rather have this version instead. You can contact Ridax where you placed the order and make the appropriate changes.

This new mic has a set of high quality headphones attached to their already well build mic. This mic will work for a number of features. You will be able to use it to control your music and also once their VoIP software supports it, you will be able to control your VoIP calls as well. Oh yeah, did I mention that by using the code that the Team released, other SW providers will be able to make this work with their apps as well. Everybody wins.

If you are curious about this and/or would like to inquire about the pre-order of this new mic, head on over to the Touchmods site and check it out more.

Another job well done!!

Now is a prime chance at the big time. Let's see what you can put out for the community.

Great news comes from the Apple SDK event yesterday. Touchmods team get your gears running. Now it’s your chance.

A press question went to Steve Jobs after the formal event.

Q: How likely do you think it is that a VoIP application will be developed?
A: “The initial take is that we will only limit VoIP over the cellular net, but not over the Wi-Fi network.” That might change, Jobs says. But for now, no VoIP over AT&T’s EDGE, which makes sense

I believe that this is a perfect time for the Touchmods team to present their solution to the community that does not have a jailbroken device.

Here is your chance for the big time Touchmods. Go, Go, Go!!! We have faith in you.

Keep checking back for updates.

That’s right folks, Apple will be holding it’s SDK event at Town Hall. Keep checking back as I will bring up-t0-date info on the event.

*As of now MacNN is reporting that while viewing BBC iPlayer on a mobile device it has a BETA sign in the corner of the screen. This means that something is very soon in the works.

*Phil Shiller is discussing the business implementations to the iPhone. While lists of business features are looked at. Shiller goes on to say customers want Microsoft Exchange support, so “We have licensed the ActiveSync protocol to build directly into the iPhone,”
Shiller goes on by demonstrating a demo of Exchange support.

Schiller’s demoing Exchange support. You add a Mail account and choose Exchange, then fill in the data. The account settings in Mail include ActiveSync settings for Calendar and Contacts as well. Now push email is supported.

* Scott Forstall comes on to demonstrate the SDK. First goes into talking about how popular web apps are. Then goes on to say.

“Starting today we’re opening up the same APIs and tools that we use to develop our own applications today. Now, there are a lot of pieces that make up an SDK. But the most important are the APIs and the platform. And we have a great one, Mac OS X.”

It seem that the iPhone OS X uses the same kernal as Mac OS X just on a mobile interface. They have taken all they know about Coccoa and everything with iPhone API and have created Coccoa touch.

Well, it seems just as I was updating my site with new information my server gave me errors. I cant even access my site. WTF.

Anyway, a recap and sorry for the delay.

New development tools: iPhone Simulator. Runs only on a Mac and you can run your apps in the simulator. You can even debug while running the simulator.
Next they run a test app that works like an etch-a-sketch and photo editing. Edit the photo with a little distortion and shake it away like the classic etch-a-sketch.

Now AOL is up to the plate. AIM is coming to the iPhone.
The AOL representative states

“We’re really looking forward to working with Apple to bring AIM to the iPhone,” the AOL rep says.

Sega steps up and demonstrates a “Super Monkey Ball Demo” and says

“If anything, we underestimated what the hardware was able to do,”

and further states

this is not a scaled-down cell phone game. It’s a console game. They had to bring in an artist to up-scale the resolution of the graphics on the iPhone.

BIG question now. How to get all of these goodies on your iPhone/iPod touch?
Steve steps up and says

“You’re a developer. What is your dream? Your dream is to get it in front of every iPhone user. That’s not possible today. Even big developers would have a hard time getting their app in front of every iPhone user. We’re going to solve it, with what we call the App Store, an application we’ve written to deliver apps to the iPhone. And we’re going to put it on every single iPhone with the next release of the software.”

“The App Store is going to be the exclusive way to distribute iPhone applications,” Jobs says. “We think we’ve got a great business deal for developers.”

You can also go through iTunes and install them from your computer. If updates are released the App Store will tell you, then just hit update.

DEVELOPERS will choose the price and Apple will keep 30% while the developer will keep the rest.

FREE APPS are well, FREE!!!

Enterprise and SDK will be delivered in one update. ” iPhone 2.0 update” Beta is available today.
Customers will see the FREE software update in late June.

This update will also go to the iPod touch however, there is a catch. Since the iPod touch is a bit different. There will be a nominal charge for iPod touch users otherwise it is the same update as the iPhone.

To join the developer program it will cost $99.

Kleiner Perkins(one of the premier venture capital firms in the world) steps up to commend Steve and Apple for such success. In return and to salute Steve, KPCD decides to help out by starting the “iFund” with $100million dollars for developers!! WOW
Perkins says

“That should be enough to start about a dozen Amazons, or even four Googles!”

Event is over

Press questions.

Q: How likely do you think it is that a VoIP application will be developed?
A: “The initial take is that we will only limit VoIP over the cellular net, but not over the Wi-Fi network.” That might change, Jobs says. But for now, no VoIP over AT&T’s EDGE, which makes sense

Well that is it folks. Hope you enjoyed it.

To my avid readers I would like to apologize for my absence the past few days. I have just returned from the hospital from a small batch of pneumonia. I know there is really no excuse as technology doesn’t stop for illnesses however, I am the only writer on ipodtouch4all.

If in the event that I should fall ill again I will see about having someone take my place until I return. Once again, please let me express my sincere apologies to you as my loyal readers.

Now, on to other things. It looks like we have a big event in store in just a few hours. Now, I am here in Japan and the event will start around 3am Tokyo time. Sooooo, I will probably be up until around 4 or 4:30am and I will give you as much up-to-date information as I can. Rest assured, AS SOON as I awake the next morning I will continue to give you as much information concerning the Apple event as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and I hope to see you here soon.

On a side note, I am finding out that a site like this is just too much for one person to handle, considering the other things that I have to juggle on a daily basis. I don’t want to let any of my loyal readers down by not being on top of things. If anyone would be interested in writing for ipodtouch4all please contact me through my contact page. Unfortunately, I cannot pay you however, if you would like a place to put your writing skills or would like to express your ideas pertaining to the relevant issues on this site, I would love to hear from you and add you to the ipodtouch4all team.

Thank you,

It looks as if Apple might be seeing the likes of the new Intel Atom. Concidering that this is a big leap in technology, this is something prime for apple to jump on. Can't wait to see what Apple has in store in the future.

According to 9to5 Mac, Apple plans to add the new Atom processor to mobile internet devices later in the year.

If this is true, it may be good news. I am not sure how exactly they will use this fabulous technology however, what ever is in store must be good.

For those of you that are not familiar with Atom. It is a new processor from Intel that is a low cost solution for mobile internet devices. Intel states that it is “Intel’s Smallest Processor Built Using World’s Smallest Transistors Designed for New Internet Devices, Low-Cost PCs”

Can’t wait to see what Apple has in store in the future.

While this rumor looks juicy like a grape. I think it may just turn out to be a wrinkled raisin.

Rumors flying again. It seems that a blogger is saying that a local newspaper add for Circuit City is showing a purple iPod nano.

I particularly think that this could be a mistake. Take a look at both of these snipits. One of the newspaper add and then one from Apple’s website.

Here is where I have drawn my conclusion from. Take a good look at both pictures. If the advertisement was an image from Apple it should have a different picture in the purple iPod nano.

If you notice in the two pictures. All of the pics are the same for the corresponding color iPods. EXCEPT the Purple and Pink. They seem to have the same picture. Every color should have it’s own pic. That is why I think that the news paper add just got the color wrong.

Well, I could be wrong. That is why this is in the rumor section. Let’s see if we can see a Purple iPod nano soon.

Calling all Developers. This just in. . .

Just a few days ago I posted about the Touchmods team splitting into two sections to work on the projects. One for the iPod touch and one for the iPhone. If you went to the Touchmods site and read their article you may have noticed one thing.

What is more, we do consider opening the Touch SIP-VoIP version for external developers.

DEVELOPERS, here is your chance. Today the Touchmods team released the 1.1 code for their project.
Lets see what you all can do with it!! You can find it on the sidebar of their website or you can go directly to the Touchmods Google page and download the code directly.

If you think you've got what it takes and you can work with the Touchmods team. This is for you.

You saw the fabulous videos of the iBand in action. Great aren’t they? Well, for all of the Musicians out there, the Touchmods team have you in mind as well!

The Touchmods team think something is missing from that group. What you ask? An Audio Recording App! That’s what.

Again, the Touchmods team is reaching out to you. To the loyal supporters of the Touchmods team. If you have any GUI or coding experience and want to help the Touchmods team out here is what they are looking for and what they have to offer.
Here is what they have in mind.

- recording in PCM format at different Sampling rates (16, 32, 44.1kHz)
- recording in Stereo through the Line-in pins of the Touch
- level-meter that shows the signal intensity while recording
- memory meter that shows the available memory (in MB or remaining seconds)
- etc.

Here are their requests.

First, we ask the designers to come up with a nice GUI layout that has all the needed buttons and setting options you think are needed for such an application. The best GUI design will be awarded by a free white Touchmods mic!
For the coders We provide the solution for reading the Line Input of the Touch. Everything you create here will stay free, and open-source.

So if you think that this is something that you can do and want to be part of the Touchmods revolution, go on over to their site and leave a comment to sign up.

Touchmods team. . . You never cease to amaze me!! Great work.

While these are just rumors, the folks over at iLounge have a lot of confidence in their sources. iLounge stated today that the up and coming SDK event on March 6th, will leave many people disappointed.
According to iLounge, All apps will need to be 1st approved by Apple and then and only then can the apps be sold. Here is another snag in the system. Once approved, it is said that iTunes will be the only place to get said apps.
What a shocker! This is really something that boils my noodle.
Oh yeah, one more thing. It also seems that Apple intends to cut of development of dock connected accessories. This heats me up more than anything. As you all may know, I am a firm supporter of the Touchmods team and their wonderfully crafted mic. That is really bad if this does come true because I would really like to see that company move forward with their developments.

UPDATE:
Now it seems that new rumors are flying that oppose the above comments.
Electronica states

sources which have since been confirmed as accurate — the new contact claims that free applications are not subject to the same rules that will guide paid software downloads. In this model, free software is unlikely to be subject to much if any scrutiny by Apple.

Well, only 5days left. Let’s see where this leads.

Pianist(formerly known as iAno) will soon get a little brother with a lot of sound. Moo-Cow-Music plans the release of a new drum app for your iPod touch/iPhone.

You may remember the video I posted about “iAno“ the very remarkable piano app for the iPod touch/iPhone. Please note that due to conflicts with that name the app is now called “Pianist”. It seems that name conflicts with the spanish language. This very powerful app was created by Moo-Cow-Music.

While rummaging through my favorite iPod touch forum. I stumbled across an interesting post by MooTheCow. MooTheCow is the creator of Pianist and it seems that MooTheCow let on to a new Beta release coming soon by the name of “Drummer”. This is another fine creation if you ask me. Very fine craftsmanship on both of these apps. Another very nifty feature of this app is that you can create and add your own sounds for a custom fit to your needs.

Features:

A 15 sample Drum Pad for your iPhone / iPod Touch.
Multi-touch. Up to 5 pads can be pressed at once.
Animated pads illuminate at your touch.
Play along to all your MP3s.
Change between drumkits at the touch of a button.
The following kits come pre-installed: Rock, Dance, Jazz 1 and 2, and Electro.
Drumkits are fully expandable to allow you to add your own samples (see below).

The new handheld pop group iBand have created two new videos.

Video 1. demonstration of ”Drummer” app.

Video 2. a new song created using the “Pianist” and “Drummer” apps.

Enjoy

News on the shorefront lead us to an Apple Event on the horizon,

Apple announced that they will be having a “town hall” event on March 6th. at headquarters in Cupertino at 10am that day.

Does this mean that they will be giving us the roadmap to success? It is still a bit too early to tell however we do know that they will discuss “some exciting new enterprise features” along with discussions concerning the developing future of the SDK. We are still unsure as to whether they will be releasing the SDK at that time however, they will be discussing it.

Let’s keep a lookout and see what we can come up with in a weeks time.

While the Touchmods team are being forced to put out a solution. They may have just found the way to make everyone happy while doing so.

It’s true!! Just not like you are thinking though.

Touchmods team announced today that the team would soon separate. Into two groups, that is. Had ya going for a minute though huh?

The team announced today that they plan on making 2 groups. 1 of which develops for the iPhone and one team to develop for the iPod touch.

Touchmods went on further to say that their software will forever be free!! With this new idea, it is purposed that the Touchmods team will be juggling feats of magic. Working on solutions for everyone.

The Touchmods team is now giving you the opportunity to, as they say “Hack the Hack”. Quite an interesting terminology however, oh so, appropriate.

Coming soon to the Touchmods repository, you will find a very interesting item.

The surprice is NOT that the App is free and open for all providers, but Samuel did implement a little trick that will disable the SW after using it for two weeks.

Ok folks, it’s time to break out your treasure hunting tools. If you can figure out how to rearrange a couple of certain numbers you can stop the deadline of using the software.
Word is also, that if someone just so happens to post the answer up over there. The post will be left for everyone to see. Educational purposes you know.

I get up this morning and WTF? Firmware 1.1.4 is here.

Wow. Where did that come from? I go rest my old eyes for a few minutes and when I wake up. . . WTF? Where did that come from and how did that get there?
With Apple putting out the new MacBooks and then the 2GB iPod shuffle yesterday, I thought they were finished for the day. Well folks, it’s really here. 1.1.4 firmware is here. It seems that Apple is actually stepping up to the plate and getting ready for the SDK.
TUAW alerts us with a live report on the download and Engadget reports that it consists of mainly “Bug Fixes”. Engadget further reports that it works on a jailbroken 1.1.3 and a non jailbroken 1.1.3 also that ZiPhone works as well.

I will be trying this out myself in a couple of hours and I will report back. Enjoy.
