Come one, come all folks. Now is your chance to become popular with the Touchmods team and chance to win a FREE Touchmods Mic or Touchmods headset.
That’s right. You heard me right. You too could be one of the lucky winners.
The Touchmods team is looking for some very special coders.
They will be giving away a Touchmods Headset and two Touchmods Microphones for the best 3 coders.
There is no catch, it is for free. The only thing you need to do is to download the source-code of the previous SIP-VoIP app and implement any of their requested features.
You will need to act fast though. This offer is only good until the end of april.
Here are some of the featured items that are wanted:
- internal Touch Buzzer Control (Andreas?)
- optimization of a compression algorithm in order to save bandwidth (ASM coders?)
- link to the internal Calendar (we have the API, thnx Metabaron)
- circular buffers for Incoming, Ougoing, Missed calls
- implementing similar trick to the “iClarified Volume Boost” hack
- “Disconnecting” button Label similar to “Connecting”
- R+L channels both active (Samuel?)
- using other Speech Codecs (with lower bandwidth needed)
- running two providers at the same time (one for receiving, and one for initiatin’ calls)
- GUI-based volume control inside the VoIP app
- iPhone internal Mic input
If you have any questions regarding the contest, feel free to contact me using my contact form or leave a comment.
The Touchmods announced the release of their latest software. SIP-VoIP version 1.2
Some of the added improvements are:

Want a ringtone. Well, add your own. New support for .mp3 files.
Solved saving problems with new file location
More pics in the skins
If you want to to find out more about this, head over to the Touchmods site for the latest or if you have any questions.
You can download this over at the Touchmods site or you should be able to add via Installer.
That’s right. If you missed your chance to order one of the first 1000 mic’s from the Touchmods team, now is your chance.
The Touchmods team just posted that they are now accepting orders again. This time they will have 1500 up for grabs.
Better hurry though 350 have already been reserved. You can order through RIDAX on the touchmods site.
Price of the mics are $45 US dollars or 30 Euro. Yes, that includes shipping to anywhere in the world.
Once again, Great work Touchmods team.
** THIS JUST IN**
If you were one of the lucky one’s to place an order this time, you wait is soon to be over. Touchmods team just announced that the new mic’s have now been shipped.
There are also some mic’s still left over. If you are interested in one, be sure to go to the Touchmods site and order one today. Your mic will ship the next day after you pay for your product.
The public speaks, the Touchmods listen. Once again, the Touchmods team produce results that the public wants.
The latest addition to the Touchmods line-up is a brand new headset solution. Looking at a release date of sometime around April, this model will only come in black and will cost you 37 Euro or $58.50. Don’t worry, if you already pre-ordered another mic from them and would rather have this version instead. You can contact Ridax where you placed the order and make the appropriate changes.
This new mic has a set of high quality headphones attached to their already well build mic. This mic will work for a number of features. You will be able to use it to control your music and also once their VoIP software supports it, you will be able to control your VoIP calls as well. Oh yeah, did I mention that by using the code that the Team released, other SW providers will be able to make this work with their apps as well. Everybody wins.
If you are curious about this and/or would like to inquire about the pre-order of this new mic, head on over to the Touchmods site and check it out more.
Great news comes from the Apple SDK event yesterday. Touchmods team get your gears running. Now it’s your chance.
A press question went to Steve Jobs after the formal event.
Q: How likely do you think it is that a VoIP application will be developed?
A: “The initial take is that we will only limit VoIP over the cellular net, but not over the Wi-Fi network.” That might change, Jobs says. But for now, no VoIP over AT&T’s EDGE, which makes sense
I believe that this is a perfect time for the Touchmods team to present their solution to the community that does not have a jailbroken device.
Here is your chance for the big time Touchmods. Go, Go, Go!!! We have faith in you.
Just a few days ago I posted about the Touchmods team splitting into two sections to work on the projects. One for the iPod touch and one for the iPhone. If you went to the Touchmods site and read their article you may have noticed one thing.
What is more, we do consider opening the Touch SIP-VoIP version for external developers.
DEVELOPERS, here is your chance. Today the Touchmods team released the 1.1 code for their project.
Lets see what you all can do with it!! You can find it on the sidebar of their website or you can go directly to the Touchmods Google page and download the code directly.
It’s true!! Just not like you are thinking though.
Touchmods team announced today that the team would soon separate. Into two groups, that is. Had ya going for a minute though huh?
The team announced today that they plan on making 2 groups. 1 of which develops for the iPhone and one team to develop for the iPod touch.
Touchmods went on further to say that their software will forever be free!! With this new idea, it is purposed that the Touchmods team will be juggling feats of magic. Working on solutions for everyone.
The Touchmods team is now giving you the opportunity to, as they say “Hack the Hack”. Quite an interesting terminology however, oh so, appropriate.
Coming soon to the Touchmods repository, you will find a very interesting item.
The surprice is NOT that the App is free and open for all providers, but Samuel did implement a little trick that will disable the SW after using it for two weeks.
Ok folks, it’s time to break out your treasure hunting tools. If you can figure out how to rearrange a couple of certain numbers you can stop the deadline of using the software.
Word is also, that if someone just so happens to post the answer up over there. The post will be left for everyone to see. Educational purposes you know.
See the rest of this over at “Hack the Hack“

Some of you might remember the report on the XXXL news from the Touchmods team. This may have let a few people down and thus leading to a small rise in tension levels with some of the readers over at the Touchmods site. Well now you can cool off a little if you were one of the ones that were frustrated that the app wasn’t totally “free”.
The Touchmods team have done it again with their latest news release:
Well folks, it seems that one of the Touchmods team members, Samuel, went and met with the PjSIP team over at the FOSDEM 2008 convention in Brussels, Belgium today.
If you are not familiar with FOSDEM.
FOSDEM ‘08 is a free and non-commercial event organised by the community, for the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place to meet.
According to the Touchmods team, Samuel, went to meet with the PjSIP team over their. Fueled by the Touchmods teams desire to bring total commitment to their VoIP project, Samuel took a presentation and a dream to share with the PjSIP team. See the presentation from Samuel HERE(PDF document)
The fate of the team may well lie in the hands of the PjSIP team. Open Source SIP-VoIP for the iPod touch may not be as far away as everyone thinks. Let’s just be patient and see where this leads.
Another big thanks goes out to the Touchmods team for keeping everything real.
